Sher Valenzuela spoke at the RNC in 2012. (WDEL/file)We're now hearing from the latest Republican to throw her hat in the ring for state treasurer.
Sher Valenzuela filed Tuesday just before the noon filing deadline.
WDEL's Joe Irizarry has more.
"I can see that we have an opportunity to insert conservative goals and ideals into our state government and it's something that we're sadly lacking right now," Valenzuela said.
She adds she first thought of running back in October, and she made it known in a discussion with State GOP Committee Chair Charlie Copeland.
Valenzuela says there is one thing she wants to change if she is elected.
"We're really falling woefully behind, nationally, in terms of more jobs and less government," she said.
Valenzuela faces off against Ken Simpler in the Republican primary for state treasurer on September 9.
