Consumption under the age of 21 is still a crime, a fact that a group of teens had to find out the hard way Friday.

More than a dozen arrests were made outside a Rehoboth Beach house party around 2 a.m.

State Department of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) agents arrived at 70 Canal Landing Court after receiving a report of a loud party and underage drinking.

Officers report seeing groups of juveniles - some carrying alcohol - attempting to flee upon their arrival.

Twelve suspects, between 15 and 19 years old, were taken into custody.

Police say they were later released to their parents.

DATE Agents issued the host of the party, 20-year-old Brian Bowersock, of Wilmington, a criminal summons for providing alcohol to a minor and for underage consumption.
