A Dover man faces burglary charges after police say he tried to sell items he stole in a public parking lot.

Police say Deon Brown broke into a home on the 400 block of South Governors Avenue early Monday morning, stealing a safe, jewelry, and a laptop.

Police say Brown tried to sell the stolen items in the Courtney Square shopping Center parking lot, but when police caught them, he dumped the items in a nearby dumpster and took off.

Authorities eventually caught Brown and arrested him. He's being held on $3,600 bail on charges of burglary and theft.

Most of the stolen items were recovered and returned to their owner.
