Condo resident arrested in connection with grenade "joke"
By Frank Gerace Bookmark and Share

Wilmington police say a resident at a condo complex is in trouble after he hung a hand grenade outside his door.

Management at the Dorset ar 1301 North Harrison Street discovered the grenade hanging from Christopher Dougherty's door on the 12th floor of the building around 9 Friday morning and called the cops.

Officers evacuated the floor and diverted traffic in the area, and bomb disposal experts found the grenade had been hollowed out, but Dougherty, who told police he'd hung the grenade from his door "as a joke", is facing a disorderly conduct charge.

12th floor residents at the Dorset were allowed back into their condos and traffic in the area returned to normal around 10:30.
