Pedestrian killed in crash near New Castle

A man was killed Tuesday when he was hit by an SUV near New Castle.

The crash happened about 6:20 p.m. just south of Rogers Road on New Castle Avenue.

State police say 52-year-old Claude Kellam of New Castle was trying to cross the southbound lanes of New Castle Avenue when he was hit by a 2004 Ford Explorer. Kellam was thrown into the air and landed on the road.

He was taken to the hospital, where he died from multiple traumatic injuries. The woman driver and a 56-year-old man in her vehicle weren't hurt.
