A private service for Former White House Press Secretary James Brady is drawing more than 200 people in Alexandria, Virginia.

Brady passed away on Monday, August 4th; he was 73.

Brady was shot in the head during the 1981 assassination attempt by John Hinckley Jr. on then-President Ronald Reagan; he lived through hours of surgery and further operations over the years, but never regained normal use of his limbs.

Brady and his wife Sarah lived for many years at the Delaware beaches.

A public service for Brady is planned at a later date.
