By Associated Press

Hundreds of people including local politicians have turned out in Philadelphia to greet representatives of the Democratic National Committee considering the city as a possible site of their 2016 convention.

Representatives from the DNC's site committee arrived Wednesday morning for a two-day visit to assess the city's ability to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Also bidding to host the event are Birmingham, Alabama; Columbus, Ohio; Brooklyn, New York, and Phoenix.

Committee members are scheduled to head to Pat's Steaks for cheesesteaks and later stop at Wells Fargo Center in south Philadelphia arena, where the convention would be held. The city's convention center would also be used for caucus meetings and other events.

Scheduled Thursday are a visit to the Comcast Center and a rally at the National Constitution Center.
