The Blue Rocks played two Wednesday with the Frederick Keys after being rained out Tuesday night. Wilmington was able to get impressive pitching performances as they shutout the Keys in both games.

In the first game, Rocks starter Sean Manaea pitched a seven inning complete game shutout, allowing just two base hits, and one walk, while striking out seven. Manaea lowered his ERA to 3.25 on the season. On offense Wilmington was led by Raul Mondesi and Fred Ford who had a home-run and two RBI each.

Glenn Sparkman was the Wilmington starter in the second game. Sparkman went six innings of shutout baseball, allowing one base hit, and two walks, while striking out seven Keys. Daniel Stumpf relieved Sparkman after six, and threw a scoreless seventh inning.

In the seventh Wilmington finally broke through after Ramon Torres stole second and reached third on an arid throw into center field. Raul Mondesi struck out swinging, but reached base when the ball got by Pedro Perez, the Frederick catcher. Torres would come in to score the games lone run, and the Rocks walked off with a sweep in the double-header.

For Sparkman, he lowered his ERA to 1.37 on the season. In fifteen starts this season, Sparkman has allowed one or fewer runs in thirteen of those games.

The Blue Rocks next game will be Thursday night at 7pm at Frawley Stadium when they close their four game set with Frederick.
