Ex-Emily Bissell Hospital nurse charged with patient abuse

A nursing assistant is arrested on charges of patient abuse.

Angela Coverdale of Wilmington, who worked for the Emily Bissell Hospital, is accused of repeatedly punching a 72-year-old resident in the face, neck and chest while cursing at her.

The resident received medial treatment and fully recovered from the injuries she sustained.

Coverdale is free on $2,000 bail and was ordered to have no contact with the victim or the hospital where she worked.

She's also prohibited from obtaining employment in any nursing facility.
