Bear Babe Ruth swept Australia and Idaho to claim the consolation bracket at the Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland.

The Middle Atlantic Champions opened the tournament with a pair of loses to teams who advanced to the United States semifinals, but then swept two games on Wednesday to wrap up pool play in 3rd place.

They then won their opening consolation game Thursday, and advanced to the championship game with a seven-run outburst in the first 3 innings against Australia before holding on for a 7-4 victory.

Later Friday, they defeated the Pacific Northwest champions from Meridian, Idaho 9-6 thanks in large part to a grand slam in the 1st inning. Jerrett Weglarz drove in two runs in the 2nd with a triple, and Garrett Casey and Jakob Hoffman each drove in runs in the 4th.

Bear ends the tournament at 5-2.
