Police: Nearly 3,000 bags of heroin seized during searches

Nearly 3,000 bags of heroin were seized and two men were charged following a four-month investigation into drug distribution, New Castle County police said.

Police learned through the investigation that Anthony Kelson and others were using multiple address and locations to distribute heroin, Ofc. Tracey Duffy said.

Officers executed search warrants near Bear at homes on Deep Creek Terrace and Smalleys Dam Road, as well as a vehicle registered to Kelson, Duffy said.

During the searches, Duffy said officers seized 2,985 bags of heroin, $1300 in suspected drug money and six marijuana plants.

Kelson was charged with possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of Tier 5 quantity of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver, she said.

He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $130,000 cash bail.

Allan Steven, another person Duffy said was charged in the investigation, faces charges including possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacturing a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Steven was arraigned and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $10,400 cash bail.
