No. 5 Wesley looks to earn a 10th straight trip to the Division III playoffs when they kick off their season next month.

The Wolverines return nine offensive starters from a team that put up 59 points in three quarters against eventual national finalist Mount Union last December in the Division III semifinals.

Leading the way is junior quarterback Joe Callahan, who tossed for 633 yards and eight touchdowns in just the final three quarters of the game in Alliance, Ohio.

Callahan will look to build off a season where he completed 58.4 perccent of his passes for 3,599 yards and 29 touchdowns. He'll look to improve on his 16 interceptions, 4 of which came in the Mount Union game.

One Wesley graduate was slot receiver Jeremiah Howe, but four players who caught at least 19 passes return, including All-American candidates in receiver Steve Koudossou (78 catches for 1,137 yards) and tight end Kyle George (34 for 528).

Defensively, All-American linebacker Sosthene Kapepula returns for his senior season. The four-year-starter recorded 110 tackles (19 for loss), 5 interceptions, and 2.5 sacks last year.

Wesley also brings back defensive back Derrick Bender, while Leon Jones returns from injury for another season in the Wolverines' secondary.

The traditionally stout defensive line also has experience returning with Aamir Petrose, Brandon Bennett, Brandon Bennett, and Payton Rose highlighting another deep and talented group.

Wesley's schedule once again is challenging, as they open with traditional playoff contender No. 22 Thomas More on September 6.

They follow that with the "Route 13 Rivalry" against Salisbury on the road, and then 3 home games against Rowan, who beat the Wolverines in the regular season last year, Southern Virginia, and Louisiana College. Louisiana College will be making their program's first ever flight to play in Dover.

Following that game, Wesley plays 4 of their final 5 games on the road, including games in Alabama, California, Virginia, and North Carolina.

WDEL will bring you all of the action of Wesley College Football beginning 30 minutes before each week's kickoff.
