Cell phone use blamed for Pike Creek crash
Updated Friday, January 4, 2008 - 2:26am
State Police say a teenaged driver talking on his cell phone caused a Pike Creek-area crash that sent him and 5 other people to Christiana Hospital.
Police say 18-year-old John Willette was driving westbound on Linden Hill Road near
Skyline Drive around 3:15 Thursday afternoon when his car drifted into oncoming traffic
and collided head-on with another car.
All 4 occupants of Willette's car, including his 11-year-old sister, who was ejected,
were treated at Christiana Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, as were both
people in the other car.
A witness said Willette was talking on his cell phone before the accident, and
Willette was charged with inattentive driving and a seatbelt violation.
Linden Hill Road was closed at the scene for about an hour after the crash.
