Delaware beaches get $8.2 M for storm repair
By Associated Press Bookmark and Share

Two Delaware beaches will receive a combined $8.2 million facelift after the state's congressional delegation snagged federal funding to repair damage done by winter storms.

Both Bethany and South Bethany beaches will benefit from the aid.

A state official says Rehoboth and Dewey Beach could also receive funding.

The state Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has estimated there was roughly $40 million of storm damage done to Delaware's beaches.

Leaders of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers say the money will be used to restore the beaches to the way they appeared before the storms.

Agency officials expects repair work will begin in the fall.
