A win for wind power
A new law is in place allowing Bluewater Wind to move forward with an offshore wind farm.
WDEL's Legislative Correspondent Carl Kanefsky has the story. Video Here
Governor Minner signed the legislation paving the way for a wind farm off the coast
of Rehoboth Beach, shortly after it passed the General Assembly Wednesday night.
Senate Majority Leader Tony DeLuca, who facilitated an agreement between Bluewater
and Delmarva Power, says good faith efforts brought the two sides together as one.
The legislation was needed to enact parts of the contract agreed to by Bluewater Wind
and Delmarva Power.
Bluewater's Jim Lanard says getting this law in place is just another step in a long
process.
Electricity from the wind farm will cost Delmarva Power customers an additional three
to three and a half dollars a month.
