Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has won the presidential contest in Delaware, home to running mate Joe Biden.

Obama scored almost 62% of the vote. His victory over Republican John McCain was expected, given that Biden lives here and Democrats outnumber Republicans in Delaware by almost 100,000 voters. The win puts three electoral votes in Obama's column.

Obama and his wife, Michelle, both campaigned in Delaware during his primary contest against New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, but did not appear during the general election campaign.

But Biden showed up at the University of Delaware last week, asking supporters to campaign in neighboring Pennsylvania on behalf of the Democratic presidential ticket.
