WDEL O'Donnell video becomes national news
Updated Wednesday, October 27, 2010 - 9:57pm
A week after WDEL's Senate debate made national news, WDEL and Christine O'Donnell were in the national spotlight again.
It comes after O'Donnell and her campaign manager threatened to sue WDEL over the
release of a videotaped interview on WDEL's "Rick Jensen Show."
CNN, MSNBC, Politico, The Washington Post and many other news outlets reported the
story Wednesday.
During the interview, O'Donnell snaps her fingers and beckons an aide after Jensen
presses her with questions..
But after seeing the video, an attorney for the O'Donnell campaign apologized to
WDEL's attorney, saying there was no legal issue with the video.
O'Donnell spokesman Doug Sachtleben said Wednesday the campaign was concerned with
whether or not WDEL had permission to record the interview, which was aired live on
1150AM and streamed on WDEL.com. Sachtleben says they tried to find out before the
interview whether it would be videotaped and, after not getting a clear answer, assumed
it would not be. However, WDEL has video of a technician adjusting the camera prior to
the interview. Video here.
A statement from the O'Donnell campaign accuses WDEL of being liberal media looking
for ratings. However, Sachtleben told WDEL News earlier Wednesday that the campaign has
no issues with WDEL's reporting. Audio Here
