A jury has recommended the death penalty for a man they convicted of fatally beating his fiancee days before their wedding was to take place.
The Sussex County Superior Court jury voted 11-1 for the death sentence instead of
life in prison for 46-year-old Emmett Taylor III of Millsboro.
The jury convicted Taylor of first-degree murder Oct. 30 in the 2007 death of
44-year-old Stephanie Mumford.
Judge E. Scott Bradley will decide Taylor's fate.
He set sentencing for Jan. 8.
Mumford was found dead in the condominium she shared with Taylor on Aug. 14, 2007,
after the couple didn't show up for their wedding rehearsal.
Taylor was arrested a few days later in Washington.
