Unearned runs doom Orioles
Updated Thursday, September 2, 2010 - 11:14pm
Ty Wiggington's fielding error in the 2nd inning led to a 5-run inning, and the Red Sox held on for a 6-4 victory in Baltimore Thursday Night.
Wiggington's blunder allowed 3 extra runs to score in the frame off of Brad Bergesen,
who picked up his first loss since July.
Baltimore's 4 runs all came in the 6th inning including a 2-run double by Matt
Weiters, but Scott Atchison stopped the rally and preserved the win for Daisuke
Matsuzaka.
Boston took 2 of 3 from the Orioles in the mid-week series. The Orioles host Tampa
Bay for a 3-game weekend set beginning Friday.

Phils win Coors Field slugfest
Updated Thursday, September 2, 2010 - 11:14pm
A 9-run 7th inning erased a 4-run deficit, and the Phillies bullpen barely hung on to beat the Colorado Rockies 12-11 in Denver Thursday.
There were 23 runs and 35 hits in the game which took nearly 4 hours to play.
Jayson Werth, Chase Utley, and Ryan Howard each hit home runs for the Phils in the
7th inning. Utley's was a grand slam off of reliever Joe Beimel.
Phillies starter Joe Blanton lasted just 4 1/3 innings allowing 6 runs (4 earned) and
10 hits. Antonio Bastardo picked up his first win of the season in relief. Brad Lidge
allowed a run in the 9th but hung on to collect the save.
The Phillies face the Milwaukee Brewers at home this weekend.

race is now 4 with 4 games remaining.

Eagles wrap up pre-season schedule
Updated Thursday, September 2, 2010 - 11:14pm
Michael Vick led the Eagles to a field goal in two series, but the New York Jets beat Philadelphia 21-17 in their preseason finale Thursday night.
Mark Brunell's 51-yard touchdown pass to former Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes in the
fourth quarter put the Jets (2-2) ahead to stay against the Eagles (2-2).
Neither team used its starters. Kevin Kolb and New York's Mark Sanchez watched from
the sideline while backups saw plenty of action and no-name rookies fought for roster
spots.
A three-time Pro Bowl quarterback during six seasons with Atlanta, Vick last started
on Dec. 31, 2006, against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
