Eric Ziady discusses his selection as UD's next athletics directorThe University of Delaware's search for a new athletics director has ended.
Eric Ziady, Boston College's senior associate athletic director of business, has been named as UD's new Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Services.
He replaces Bernard Muir, who was named Stanford University's athletics director in August, and becomes just the fifth AD at Delaware since 1940.
Ziady says he's committed to keeping student-athlete's successful in in the classroom and in sports but one of his goals is to keep the school's sports programs competitive.
"I met with the coaches earlier and I told them I want to win just as much as anybody. I'm not coming down here to lose," he says.
He says he looks forward to getting involved with UD's athletic department and keeping the school's 21 athletic programs competitive.
"I understand the rich history and tradition of Delaware athletics and I can't wait to work with this fine group of coaches, administrators and staff," he says.
The university expects that Ziady will begin his duties in early November.
