Highlights from Salesianum's 7-2 win over St. Mark's
Salesianum's defense picked up 4 interceptions as they defeated rival St. Mark's in a 7-2 victory that locked up a first round bye in the DIAA Division I playoffs.

It was late in the 1st Quarter with the Sals driving when Quarterback Matt Sgro looked deep and connected with Alex Campli to move the ball into the redzone. It set up an end-around to Jesse June who came up just short of the endzone for the last play of the period.

The Sals would punch it in on 1-yard run by Andrew McClelland for the touchdown and led 7-0 early in the 2nd Quarter.

The Spartans looked to respond on the next drive when Quarterback Zachary Whitehead connected with Jake Schneider for a deep pass that put the Spartans on the Sals' 12 yard line but...a couple plays later Whitehead was picked off in the endzone by McClelland to end the scoring threat.

The Junior QB wouldn't have much luck on the Spartan's next possession--Whitehead aimed for the endzone again but the ball ended up in the hands of the Sals' Stephen Gallo, allowing Salesianum to take the 7-0 lead into halftime.

The interceptions continued in the 2nd Half St. Marks was driving in the 3rd Quarter when Whitehead was picked off again--this one by Thomas Wilmoth.

Gallo would also intercept another pass in the 4th Quarter with five minutes left to go in the game.

Salesianum was backed up to their endzone on fourth down with less than 30 seconds left in regulation when the Sals decided to run more time off the clock and take the safety rather than punt. The play shortened the lead to 7-2, but St. Marks was unable to score with less than 20 seconds left in the game.

The win secures a No. 2 seed for Salesianum in the DIAA Division 1 playoffs and a first round bye.
