By Amy Cherry 11:44am, November 16, 2012 - Updated 3:49pm, November 16, 2012It's uncertain whether owners of homes and businesses in Delaware that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy will qualify for federal disaster assistance.
Governor Markell requested FEMA aid for Delaware this week, and Peter Herrick a spokesperson for FEMA says that application is still being processed.
The extent of damage to the nearby Jersey Shore, New York City and elsewhere will play a factor in FEMA's decision to given Delaware aid.
If disaster assistance isn't approved, owners will have to work with their insurance providers or obtain low-interest loans to pay for repairs, damage and flood clean-up.
