Blue Hens guard Devon Saddler scored 12 of his 18 points in the 2nd half to pace Delaware to a 68-59 victory over Radford in their home opener Tuesday night.

Delaware (3-6), who was playing their first home game after 8 games either on the road or neutral courts, jumped out of the blocks early taking a 13-3 lead on a Marvin King-Davis jumper at the 11:45 mark.

The game see-sawed down to a one point advantage and back up 7 point lead before Radford chipped away and took the lead on an R.J. Price three-pointer with 1:04 to go in the half. Delaware countered with a pair of Jamelle Hagins free throws to lead 31-30 at intermission.

After a Blake Smith dunk put the Highlanders up 34-33, Delaware took the lead for good after Josh Brinkley grabbed an offensive rebound and then made a basket.

The lead eventually swelled to 13 after Hagins was again fouled after an offensive rebound. Radford would get no closer than six as their 3-game winning streak came to an end.

Saddler added 4 assists and 5 rebounds to his 18 point night, while Hagins recorded his 6th double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds to go with 4 blocks. Delaware had 8 blocks while outrebounding Radford 47-33.

R.J. Price and Ya Ya Anderson each scored 14 points for the Highlanders.

Delaware faces off with in-state rival Delaware State Saturday at 2pm.
