By Amy Cherry 3:22pm, December 11, 2012Republicans in the state House and Senate are asking the Delaware Compensation Commission to forego the recommendation of raises for state lawmakers this year.
Every four years, the six-member commission reviews the base salaries for legislators, judges, and top officials in the executive branch and compares them to paid officials in surrounding states.
Current law would allow a recommendation for a raise to go into effect on February 1st if the General Assembly doesn't act to prevent it. Lawmakers can only reject the commission's proposal in its entirety; they can't pick and choose.
