Newark vs. St. Elizabeth Finale and Interviews with McCants and Blake
Earlier this month, Newark's Jahsun Greer confidently stated that he didn't believe that the Yellowjackets' boys basketball team would lose another game.

Greer's prediction--so far so good, as the Yellowjackets came from behind in the third quarter to down St. Elizabeth 60-54 in a regular season finale Tuesday night.

The Vikings led 29-21 at the half with the help of seniors Andre Patton and Ryan Cason. Patton scored 12 points, while Cason scored all of his 11 points in the first half.

Newark's center Shikei Blake entered the game late, however, he was able to rack up 12 points for the Yellowjackets going into the half.

Newark's line up switched up to their familiar starting five in the beginning of the 3rd quarter.

Greer scored his first points with an opening quarter lay up. Captain Xavier Purnell then lifted the Yellowjackets 32-31 with an inside bucket. Newark led for the first time since their 3-2 lead in the early going.

The game remained close, but Newark would extend the lead to 6-points, after outscoring the Vikings 26-12 in the third quarter. Patton was the only St. E scorer in the third.

Three's by Newark's Marquis Clarke and Jamar McGriff in the final quarter helped the Yellowjackets end the regular season with an eight game winning streak.

Blake led Newark with 20, while Purnell, Clarke, and Greer added 9 points each.

The Vikings' eight game winning streak came to an end, but Patton led all scorers with 28 points.
