By Carl Kanefsky 3:56pm, March 19, 2013A man incarcerated for shooting to death a man in a wheelchair has been released, and a key witness who helped land him behind bars faces perjury charges.
Abdullah Talib-Din, also known as Douglas Lum, originally told police Medford Holmes of Wilmington shot him and Antonio Smith on the 2800 block of North Jefferson Street in April of 2011. Smith died as a result of the shooting.
The jury in the Holmes case couldn't reach a verdict leading to a mistrial. A second trial was to take place this year, but Talib-Din now says Holmes wasn't the shooter.
Holmes was released last week. Talib-Din faces one count of perjury, and five counts of providing a false statement to law enforcement.
