Sunoco Logistics says 10 more workers have been laid off at the former Marcus Hook refinery as the facility continues its transition to a processing plant for Marcellus Shale natural gas.

Sunoco spokesman Joseph McGinn says that 40 to 50 workers remain at the refinery. The workers who remain at the shuttered plant are fulfilling Sunoco Logistics contracts with Philadelphia Energy Solutions and Braskem. The workers are also overseeing docks, tanks and other facilities, and the plant's emergency response issues.

The refinery, which once processed 178,000 barrels of oil per day, was idled in December 2011 with most of its workers laid off in February 2012.
