DNREC resuming mosquito control

One benefit to the cool temperatures this spring: it has slowed the growth of mosquito larvae.

DNREC is resuming mosquito control efforts this week - spraying wooded wetlands in all three counties.

Up to 8,000 acres with woodland pools near populated areas will be targeted by helicopter with larvicide.

Officials are quick to point out that the insecticide they use (Bti) is EPA-approved and will be applied in an amount that doesn't pose a risk to human health or the environment.
