Video: Highlights of Flight A contest and reactionCharter softball opened this season with a tough 3-2 loss to an undefeated St. Georges Tech. The Force bounced back with vengeance and has yet to see another defeat.
Charter (7-1, 5-0 Flight A) added their seventh consecutive victory Tuesday, beating conference rival Concord 8-3.
The Force didn't waste anytime and got the bulk of their runs in the first inning.
With two outs, Devon Steiner began a rally when she laced a ball to right field. Jordan Schoeneberger, Kylie Shivery, Megan Cowan, and Emily Smith followed with singles of their own to lift Charter 4-0.
The Raiders hit the ball hard, but the team couldn't quite string together hits until the fourth.
Concord's senior Casey Howard led off with a single up the middle and Jessica Fyock and Ashlee Stritzinger drove in runs to cut the lead in half 4-2.
Charter, however, added another big offensive inning in the sixth when Steiner, Schoeneberger, and Shivery earned RBIs to extend the lead 8-2.
Concord (5-3, 4-2) tried to make a late run when Howard drilled a ball to center and scored Krysti Lober, but it wouldn't be enough. Howard and Lober had three hits each for the Raiders.
Charter pitcher Meghan Cowan picked up her sixth win for the Force. Charter will try to extend their streak to eight games, when they host Newark on Thursday.
Concord has another Flight A game on the line, when they host Glasgow (5-4) on Thursday.
