The University of Delaware football team closed out their spring practice schedule during the annual Blue White scrimmage at Tubby Raymond field Saturday afternoon.

The Blue team won the intra-squad matchup 38-6 and gave UD fans a chance to see the new-look offense employed by first-year head coach Dave Brock.

"Our kids have done a great job this spring, working hard and bringing a lot of energy to practice," says Brock, who was pleased with the overall progress of the team during the spring practice period.

He noted that Quarterback Trent Hurley, who started last season is recovering from offseason foot surgery, won't see action until the fall.

Senior wide receiver Rob Jones threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Mike Milburn in the second quarter to put the Blue team on the board and later hauled in a 40-yard strike from Trevor Sasek in the 3rd. He finished with 70 yards in the game.

Senior running back Julian Laing scored two touchdowns on the day and ran for 173 yards on the day.

" is committed to the run, he's committed to the pass. We're gonna' do a lot of attacking this year," Laing says.

Running back Andrew Pierce also scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run for the Blue team.

The Blue Hens begin their 2013 campaign on Aug. 29 when they host Jacksonville in their season opener.
