Vice President Joe Biden said Friday afternoon that his son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, is doing well after undergoing a medical procedure at a Houston cancer center this week.

Joe Biden, who spoke during an event at Lackawanna College in his hometown of Scranton, Pa., said his son wanted to "say hello" to those in attendance and meet with Pennsylvania's Attorney General Kathleen Kane.

"He's doing well, he's anxious to get back to work," Biden said.

However, Biden did not mention if there was a timetable for his son's return.

A state Department of Justice spokesman told WDEL Thursday night that the attorney general continues to direct the agency over the phone and had been in contact with staff members, but gave no word on when a return to office might occur.

Beau Biden returned to Delaware on Thursday along with his father on Air Force Two before traveling to the vice president's Greenville home.

The attorney general was admitted to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center this week after he experienced weakness and disorientation during a vacation in Indiana last week.

Biden had been staying at his father's house because his own home is undergoing renovations. Two weeks prior to his hospitalization, emergency dispatchers received a call regarding a report of a possible stroke at the vice president's home.

Beau Biden became Attorney General in 2007 and suffered a minor stroke in 2010.

The vice president's appearance was part of President Barack Obama's last stop on his two-day bus tour to promote his ideas to lower the cost of higher education.
