By Sean Greene 5:26pm, August 27, 2013Tom Borsello couldn't match Monday's blistering opening round, but still did enough to claim the DSGA Delaware Senior Championship with a three-shot victory over Walt Bell at Kings Creek Country Club Tuesday.
Borsello, who fired a 1-under 70 on Monday, parred his first five holes Tuesday, before responding to a bogey with a birdie on the par-5 7th. He would later add a birdie on the 14th hole on a back nine that also featured five bogeys.
This opened the door for Bell, who started the day seven shots off the lead, but his birdie on the 8th hole became a 3-shot swing when Borsello hit a double bogey to cut his lead down to five strokes. Bell's double bogey on 13 followed by Borsello's birdie on the next hole stretched the advantage back to eight, and despite Bell gaining a shot on each of the last four holes he couldn't close the difference.
Bell's 2-over 73 matched Paul Hufschmidt for the best final round tally, as Hufschmidt rallied to reach a tie for 5th place behind Rich Thon and John Register who tied for 3rd place five shots behind Borsello.
