By Mark Fowser 10:59am, September 4, 2013 - Updated 1:07pm, September 4, 2013Ocean City, MD puts the brakes on a proposal to allow vehicles to drive the beaches during the colder months.
City Council members Tuesday night decided not to proceed with regulatory approval for the proposal, which would have allowed surf fishermen to pursue permits and bring their vehicles onto the sand.
The access would have been restricted to fishermen, which drew opposition from the Surf Rider Foundation.
The group felt if some people should be allowed onto the beach with vehicles, then the same privilege should be extended to everyone.
