Video: Highlights of St. Mark's vs William Penn & reaction
St. Mark's football team scored first in their season opener against William Penn and never looked back to cruise to a 28-0 victory on Friday night.

Early on both teams were equally aggressive on defense. The Spartans forced a turnover with a little more than five minutes left in the opening quarter, and capitalized on the offensive end.

T.J. Brown scored his first of two rushing touchdowns with 3:25 left in the first. Jeff Richards' kick was good and the Spartans took the early 7-0 lead.

With less than two minutes left in the half, Brown scored a two-yard touchdown to extend the Spartan lead 14-0 by halftime.

St. Mark's continued to dominate in the third, when Markquise Normand rushed for 45-yards to set up another touchdown. Quarterback Zach Whitehead passed to Rhett Schweizer for a nice touchdown reception, and the Spartans had the 21-0 edge with 10:41 left in the quarter.

The Colonials tried to make something happen late in the game, with long carries from their running backs, including Martin Ayan, but couldn't get anything done.

The Spartans' Normand added the final touchdown for St. Mark's.
