The Pond
For the first time, we're hearing from management at The Pond regarding the arrest of a co-owner on charges he inappropriately touched two boys.

Manager Cindy Zaremba refused to go on tape with WDEL, but provided a statement that says effective immediately Scott Bicking is not permitted on the property, keeping the facility in compliance with a court no-contact order.

The Pond has taken extra steps to ensure children's safety, including renewed background checks of all employees, management and owners. Its also instituted new policies regarding staff contact with minors and added oversight of youth activities.

The Pond assures parents it remains a safe enjoyable and excellent facility, despite what it calls "troubling" and "unfortunate" allegations brought against Bicking.

A member of The Pond management will be at a community meeting held by Newark Police tonight at Newark High School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The meeting gives parents a chance to ask questions and get help, if they need it. WDEL will be there.
