VIDEO: Dave Brock's weekly press conferenceDelaware football coach Dave Brock called Saturday's 29-22 come-from-behind win over James Madison a good team win.
The Blue Hens trailed at the half 19-7, but the Delaware defense shut down the Dukes offense in the second half while the Blue Hen offense came alive in the final 30 minutes.
Brock says it wasn't so much defensive adjustments that were made as it was consistency on both sides of the ball in the second half. He says they were able to consistently stop the run and played a more physical style of football after intermission.
This week, Delaware takes on a Maine team that has played very well the last couple of weeks....playing Northwestern tough before falling 35-21 two weeks ago, and beating Richmond on the road last week, 28-21.
Brock says Maine is a tough, physical football team that knows what the coaching staff wants them to do and does it. He calls the Black Bears a well-coached team and says Saturday's game in Orono will be a big challenge.
Brock said Maine tight end Justin Perillo, a graduate of the Tatnall School is similar to his tight end Nick Boyle, and one of the best in the CAA.
He says Maine is very good at stopping the run and their linebackers are good...however, he says he likes the way the Blue Hens match up with Maine on the perimeter.
One injury of note...defensive lineman Laith Wallschleger will definitely not play this week, and may have a season-ending injury.
Delaware makes its first appearance in the Sports Network top 25 this week at number 24....Maine is ranked one spot higher at number 23.
