Wesley has a rare chance to wipe a '0' out of their record book when they play at Rowan Saturday afternoon.

Mike Drass has built an impressive 182-50-1 (.783) record in his 20 years on the sidelines at Wesley, but a full 10% of those losses (5) have come against their nearby rivals to the north.

The teams actually first met in 1988 when Rowan was still known as Glassboro State, and they defeated Wesley 27-0 in Tim Keating's first season directing the Wolverine program.

After 11 years off, the teams met five straight years from 1999-2003, with Rowan taking all five games, but a 22-20 nailbitter in Glassboro in 2002 showed Wesley was closing the gap.

Two years after the teams stopped playing, Wesley began their current 8-year postseason run, and Mike Drass says games against consistent winners like Rowan, who played in the National Championship game in 1999 under former head coach K.C. Keeler.

"We were trying to become a playoff team, a team that could compete with people week in and week out. We'd always been a winning team, but we hadn't broken that mold."

This year's Rowan team enters the contest at 3-2 following a surprising 41-21 loss at Morrisville State last Saturday. Running back Withier Marcelin leads the Profs with 438 yards and five touchdowns.

Wesley is riding a three-game winning streak after a 40-0 shutout over the Virginia University of Lynchburg last Saturday. Rowan is one of two remaining Division III opponents on Wesley's schedule, adding to the importance of the match-up for Wesley's hopes of making a 9th straight trip into the NCAA's Field of 32.

The only other schools Wesley has played since 2000 who they have never beaten at least once are Albright (0-2), Davidson (0-1), Mount Union (0-2), and Wisconsin-Whitewater (0-3).

You can hear Saturday's Homecoming game for Rowan beginning with the Saturday Football Center at 1pm on 1150AM WDEL, WDEL.com, and the WDEL Mobile App for smartphones.
