VIDEO: Highlights and reaction to Mount Pleasant vs. McKean
Despite a valiant 2nd half comeback by McKean, Mount Pleasant was able to hold on to notch a road victory, beating the Highlanders 30-22.

It was all Green Knights to start the game. McKean found themselves down 13-0 after a couple of first half touchdown passes by freshman QB Jashawn Johnson. Things went from bad to worse after a blocked punt was returned for a touchdown with 40 seconds remaining in the half to give Mount Pleasant a commanding 20-0 lead.

McKean showed signs of life though with time winding down in the first half as QB Darius Jones led a late drive that was capped off by long touchdown pass. The senior scrambled to his left and threw on the run towards the near sideline, finding receiver Isaiah Cottom who raced into the endzone. The teams went into halftime with Mount Pleasant leading 20-6.

McKean's momentum seemed to disappear as the opening drive of the second half ended with a fumble in their own territory. Mount Pleasant would not wait long to capitalize when senior running back Marcus Lopez handled the pitch from the option run and scored from 11-yards out to open up a 21-point lead.

The Highlanders would claw their way back though as a switch to a no huddle offense seemed to take the Green Knights by surprise. The up-tempo attack led to two touchdowns in 58 seconds, both TD runs by Darius Jones, making it a one score game, 27-22 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Marcuz Lopez and company would embark on a time consuming drive to open the 4th quarter, which ended in a successful field goal attempt to increase their lead back to 8. McKean would drive the length of the field in search of the tying score, however the final play of the game would see a pass to the corner of the endzone broken up as Mount Pleasant holds on to win the game.

McKean drops to 5-3 on the season, while Mount Pleasant improves their record to 3-5.
