By Tom Lehman 12:03am, February 18, 2014 - Updated 12:41pm, February 18, 2014A meeting being held in Wilmington on Tuesday will focus on bringing more businesses to move into the Eastside.
The meeting is being hosted by Councilwoman Hanifa Shabazz and the mayor's Economic Development Office with the intention of attracting entrepreneurs as part of the Eastside Rising revitalization plan.
"We're planting seeds of ideas for people that may have always had a passion to do that type of business or are presently doing that type of business, and we're saying 'we're looking for all types of businesses to bring goods and services to the community,'" Shabazz says.
Shabazz says businesses in fields like carpentry, catering, and IT support would be among those that could benefit from the meeting.
"The goal is to bring them to the table to help them to establish and bring forth their entrepreneurship ideas and businesses, with the hope that they would then want to provide that service on the Eastside as part of our economic development plan," says Shabazz.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in Central Baptist Church on the corner of 9th and Pine Streets.
