VIDEO: Highlights and Reaction to Archmere's victoryArchmere's Amanda Olsen scored 8-meter goals with two seconds left in regulation, and then again in overtime to give the Auks a 13-12 victory over Sussex Tech Tuesday afternoon.
The back-and-forth game was tied at 11 after Tech's Emma Spellman found the goal with 4:53 left in regulation.
Both teams would get opportunities to break the tie before the Ravens claimed a very lengthy possession. Senior Dori Zimmerman would get six separate opportunities from the 8-meter spot due to fouls, and she took advantage by scoring her 5th goal of the game to claim a 12-11 lead with 19 seconds left.
Olsen would win the ensuing faceoff, and after a pair of fouls earned an opportunity at goal with 5 seconds left, which she calmly converted to force the extra session.
Sussex Tech controlled the first 3-minute part of overtime, but the Auks defense along with goaltender Kelley Lucey kept the ball out of the net, with the period remaining tied at the side switch.
With just 30 seconds remaining in the period, Olsen earned another opportunity from 8 meters out, and after shooting low to force overtime, she ended the game with a blast over the shoulder of the goaltender to wrap up the Auks' 3rd straight win to open the season.
Olsen finished with seven goals on the afternoon, with Kate Payne adding 3 more.
Taylor Kvilhaug joined Zimmerman by scoring 5 goals for the Ravens, who dropped to 0-4.
