Elena Delle Donne scored 17 points in her return to her collegiate court as the Chicago Sky defeated the Washington Mystics 76-69 in a WNBA exhibition Tuesday night.

The former Ursuline and Delaware star was playing her first game in Newark since the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament last March.

Points didn't come easy for the WNBA Rookie of the Year as she made just 1 of her 7 first half shots, but a 5-for-6 free throw performance gave her 7 points at intermission.

Elena turned things around late in the 3rd quarter, hitting a pair of baseline shots, including one with .3 seconds remaining to finish off an 8 point frame.

Washington's Tierra Ruffin-Pratt, who was on that North Carolina team that Delle Donne's Blue Hens beat in the 2013 Tournament, did an excellent job of man-to-man defense on Elena in the 4th quarter.

Delle Donne got the last say on the evening, as she took a pass on the baseline, split a double-team, and made a contested 8-footer to put the Sky up 72-67 with just 31.7 seconds remaining and set up the victory.

Delle Donne, who says she's added about 12 pounds of muscle since last season to help with the battles of professional basketball, finished with 10 rebounds along with her 17 points.

Courtney Vandersloot added 15 points and 11 assists for the Sky, who open their season Friday at home against Indiana before travelling to New York Saturday.

The Sky will also play in New York on June 27, and make a close approach to Delaware as well when they face the Mystics in D.C. on June 13 and August 13.
