By Peter MacArthur 11:47am, July 2, 2014 - Updated 4:17pm, July 2, 2014Traffic will be at a peak for the July 4th weekend and DelDOT is planning ahead to make your ride as safe and efficient as possible.
DelDOT's Sandy Roumillat says one way they do that is to stop doing so much on the roads.
"DelDOT always suspends planned lane closures on the major arteries...Route 1, I-95, U.S. Route 202, and, of course, we do have the closure on Interstate 495 as well," said Roumillat.
Roumillat says they advise you to avoid peak travel times between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursday and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
DelDOT also urges drivers to take advantage of the the I-95 Welcome Center Plaza located between exits 1 and 3 of I-95.
Also, DART Resort Transit operates every day between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to get folks to various beach points around the state.
