By Peter MacArthur 5:07am, July 21, 2014 - Updated 5:27am, July 21, 2014A fundraiser for a woman burned in a June fire in Wilmington, ended abruptly Sunday when shots rang out at Haynes Park.
It happened at about 5:15 during an event being held to help pay the medical bills of Francine Wallace.
Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams says the park was filled with children but no one was hurt.
Police are trying to track down whomever fired off the shots.
Williams calls the incident callous and senseless and says he plans to introduce gun legislation he hopes will get more criminals off the streets of the city.
