By Amy Cherry 5:00pm, August 6, 2014The northbound side of 495 will more than likely be open before Labor Day weekend.
DelDOT crews have finished underpinning piers that needed new support closest to the Christina River and Christiana Avenue.
Construction workers have also placed shoring towers and large steel header beams in place. They're now working to close holds in the northbound bridge deck.
DelDOT says so far the southbound side of 495 will need some minor work soon to add newly constructed piers, but that the bridge is performing as expected.
