A pair of Wednesday victories by Bear Babe Ruth wasn't quite enough to send the Delaware Champions to the United States Semifinals at the Cal Ripken World Series.

In a morning game rescheduled due to Tuesday's heavy rain, Garrett Casey and Jakob Hoffman hit singles in the 9th inning to lead Bear to a 10-8 victory over Denver.

Bear found themselves down 7-0 after two innings on their 3rd game in the tournament after dropping the first two contests.

Hoffman kickstarted the offense in the 4th with an RBI single after Jarrett Weglarz' lead-off triple. An RBI single and bases loaded walk for Zachary Pritchard brought the score to 7-3.

After Denver scored another run, Bear was able to secure extra innings after a three-run homer by Jakob Hoffman and then a 2-run shot by Shawn Haut.

The game remained 8-8 into the 9th inning, when Mason Keene led off the inning with a bunt single.

Casey then sliced a single to right to put Bear ahead, and then Jakob Hoffman did the same to wrap up the scoring.

Jarrett Weglarz then shut the door in the bottom of the 9th to clinch the victory.

In the second game against Homewood, Ill., Hoffman hit an early home run, and Madison Keene drove in an RBI to complete a 10-0 run-rule victory.

Due to other results, the 2-2 record proved to be only good for 3rd place in the 5-team pool, eliminating Bear from the main draw.

They will play in a 10-team consolation bracket, beginning with a 12:30 game against the New Zealand champions.
