3 tips: School bus safety

After summer's freedom, students started lining up today for the school bus.

To help your child's bus driver keep him or her safe:

Make sure the driver can see your student at all times by having them stay 12 giant steps away from the outside of the bus, and remind them to stay away from the street while they're waiting.

Clothes or backpacks should not have drawstrings, toggles or key chains. They can get caught on bus handrails and doors.

Remind your child that, if he or she drops something outside the bus, not to bend over to pick it up. The bus driver may not be able to see the child. Instead, children should ask the driver for help.
