What is the future of the internet? That's the question posed to more than a thousand experts by the Pew Research Center. Lee Rainie, director of Pew's Internet and American Life Project says there are two models- one the wide open world wide web, and two-the explosion of apps on mobile devices.
"Apps are very convenient and they are very much in tune with people not wanting to spend lots and lots of time searching for things and lots and lots of time finding the most interesting things. Maybe one of the problems with that is that some of the richness of the web might be lost in that more tailored environment."
Most experts agree the Web isn't dead, but it is changing toward a more app-oriented access to information. Some worry this will result in a more limited flow of information.
