Salem Village Square

Police are on the lookout for a suspect who identified himself as a law enforcement officer in an attempt to carjack a vehicle.

Delaware State troopers say the events unfolded around 1 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2020, in the parking lot of the Salem Village Square Shopping Center at the intersection of Salem Church and Chapman roads across from Christiana High School.

The 20-year old victim told troopers he had just left a business and gotten in his vehicle in the parking lot when another vehicle pulled up.

A suspect got out, identified himself as law enforcement without showing a badge or ID and said he needed the victims's vehicle.

The victim refused. The suspect pulled a gun and the victim drove off and contacted the real police.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Corporal Aviola at Delaware State Police Troop 6, 302.633.5000.
