The Junior League of Wilmington's 36th Whale of a Sale event gets underway at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 3030 Bowers Street in Wilmington.

The site is the former home of the Opportunity Center and will soon house Second Chances Farm.

Junior League of Wilmington President Kyle Evans Gay said Whale of a Sale has rotated locations in the past and this year's space offers 20,000 sq. ft. of items ranging from housewares, to sports gear, to children's clothing and toys.

The event is billed as Delaware's largest garage sale and Evans Gay says it's the organization's largest fundraiser.

"All proceeds benefit our mission which is to train women to be leaders in our community and it also funds our community outreach effort," says Evans Gay.

Evans Gay said people have camped out the night before the event in the past to get the best chance at finding a bargain.

"The moral of the story is the early bird gets the great deal at Whale of a Sale."
