A Hartly man is dead after his motorcycle hit a car near Dover, and charges are pending against the car's driver.
The car pulled away from a stop sign at Forrest Avenue and Artis Drive Wednesday night, and turned left into the motorcycle's path, Delaware State Police said.
The operator of the motorcycle, 27-year-old Davon Johnson, hit the brakes and the cycle slid into the car, whose driver continued on to a house north of the accident scene, but came back later in another car.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe the driver of the car had been drinking.
The crash closed Forrest Avenue at the scene for about 3 and a half hours, and police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call M/Cpl. W. Killen of the Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit at 302.698.8451.
